Sierra found a rolly polly bug while we were playing in the backyard this weekend and wanted to share the excitement with her sister. Because she is so young, everything is new, unusual and exciting to her. I took a ton of shots and I liked this first one the best because is captured the amazement.

A New Beginning
Yesterday we were able to witness the marriage of Ed and Debbie at a beautiful outdoor ceremony in Idaho Falls. We were late and I felt like a fool but it was one of those things I had no control over. A minor detour towards Utah for a while set us back 45 min. and had the whole wedding held up, on account of me. Ahhhh, we'll what can I say? Things happen, life happens and every once in a while a wrong turn can teach you a thing or two about yourself. I hope these two are on the right road together and wish them as smooth a ride a possible. Love you guys and best of luck!

Journal/ Drawing Area of Studio
For the last month and a half I have been spending every spare second out in my studio. In the beginning I couldn't even step foot in it. I had been so packed with Christmas decorations, furnature, and a ton of other things that I really didn't need. So, I went through it all... gave 90% away and am so happy with the spaces I have gotten done. I love to use things in different ways and make something ordinary, extrordinary.

Breathe
This is my latest mixed-media painting. I am donating it for a cancer fundraiser for children that's taking place June 1st in Hailey. And for me it has a double meaning. My mom is battling lung cancer, so every breath for her is a moment and every moment a dream.

Josef
"Our Deepest Fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, "Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous?" Actually, who are you not to be?"

The Best Change to See is the One in Yourself
"I love narcissism as a power to reconstruct oneself, to marry ourselves, to be at peace, to see we glow inside out. Not to just focus on the superficial aspect of our physical appearance. Sure, physical beauty is reassuring; but it's quite hard to find a beautiful woman who is truly aware of the impact of her appearance. Most of us doubt; many of us don't feel pretty most of the time."
-Helene Deroubaix, photographer
(Life Images Mag. J/F/M 09)
This is her response to why she uses herself as the subject of her photos. I too use myself as a subject since everyone else is tired of having their picture taken. But I feel like she nailed it. I can take a photo of myself and transform it into a piece of art, someting beautiful. And in the end you are reborn from the camera.

Quote of the Day
" The purpose of art is not a rarified, intellectual distillate- it is life, intensified, brilliant life."
-Alain Arias-Misson
In my view, what I strive for with my art is to evoke feeling. It doesn't really matter what the feeling is. The point is just to feel. I want someone to look at something I made or a moment I captured and say 'Hummm' or 'awww'. I want a question to click in their brain or a spark to light in their heart. It is just time the world began to FEEL again. So open up yourself to the possibilities and let your heart out for a while.
